During this time, it is natural to have some fears and anxieties. We would like to again reassure you that children have been doing remarkably well with this virus. Despite this, we are realizing that we all have a role to play in preventing the spread of this illness to minimize exposure to COVID – 19 for the at-risk population. Those most at risk are the elderly, especially if they have a pre-existing condition. Therefore, schools are closing, large functions are getting cancelled, and travel plans are getting rescheduled.

Starting this next week, you will see us here at Brentwood Pediatrics implementing more changes so that we can also help prevent the spread of illness. For now, we have created a workflow in our office that reduces contact between well and sick patients.

1) We are moving all Well Child/Preventative Health visits and behavioral consultations to our morning clinic. We ask that one healthy parent and only the child being evaluated come to this appointment. If your child is not well on the day of the appointment, please plan to reschedule. We have dedicated half of our clinic space to well visits only and we will have the waiting area devoted to well children only.

2) We will be scheduling sick visits in the afternoons only and we will plan to have patients come in a separate entrance. In the case of an urgent issue please call us at any time. Our providers are available by phone if needed. We ask that you distance yourselves from the at-risk population and practice good hand washing. Please feel free to call our office if you need any guidance.

3) Your child DOES need to come in for: CALL US at any time to speak with a nurse or provider if urgent.
– Fever (temp > 100.4) in babies under 60 days of age
– Respiratory distress, shortness or breath, or wheeze
– Sore throat in the absence of cold symptoms
– Concern for ear infection
– Fever (temp > 100.4) for more than 5 days
– If you feel your child needs to be examined for any reason

We hope to continue to keep you updated, but please let us know if you have questions.

Thank You,

Brentwood Pediatrics
